The Senior Common Room (SCR) are members of university staff who are also members of Bowland College. Some Senior Members have a role in managing the college and form an integral part of collegiate life by working closely with the JCR Exec and by contributing towards the intellectual and social experience of our students.
Professor Mary Smyth, Principal
Professor Smyth provides strategic leadership and management of the collegiate experience within Bowland College, working closely with the JCR and SCR to identify opportunities to enhance inclusion of all members and pursue objectives that highlight the uniqueness and individuality of the college.
Lorna Harrison, College Manager

Val Bramhall, Dean

Kate, Linda and Pam are responsible for providing support for student welfare and wellbeing matters in the college, offering appropriate advice, guidance and intervention as well as re-direction to additional support services where necessary. Dr Amy Gibbons, Director of Engagement
Amy is responsible for the development and organisation of JCR, SCR and Alumni engagement activities within the College and works closely with the Principal, the College Administrator, and the College JCR, especially the Socials and Events Representatives.
The Assistant Deans work with Val in the preservation of good order. They are usually postgraduate students and they live within the college and maintain a duty rota, ensuring one of them is on call to assist the Porters on rounds or calls outs, if required.Michael Nina Jess
The porters are an integral part of college life. They provide 24 hour cover in term time and they are available to help with student queries regarding keys, mail, parcels or to report faults in your accommodation. You can contact them by telephone on 01524 592 348 or drop by the porters lodge. In the event of an emergency you can also contact University Security on 01524 594 541 or by ringing 999 from an internal University phone.
