Socials & Events
Hey there Bowlanders! You’ve probably seen us around, and know who we are and what we do, but for those of you that don’t, we’re the college’s social secretaries, and it’s our job is to organise all of the socials for the college (just in case the name isn’t obvious enough!!). Bowland is renowned around campus for having a great college spirit; everyone always gets involved which is one of the reasons why we have such great socials. Every week we host one (sometimes two!) socials where members of the college can get together and have fun.

And it’s not all about drinking and partying (though it is some of the time!) we try to do a wide range of off campus, on campus, and non alcoholic socials, to fit in with what everyone in the college wants. However, that’s not to say that we’re not open to suggestion! Don’t hesitate to come and talk to one of us about what you want to happen with your socials; after all we’re here for you guys!
2008 has started off well, we’ve had loads of great nights so far (and that’s only this term!), and we hope that you guys have too! We’ve had bowling nights to Morecambe, we’ve taken on some of the clubs in Lancaster for Bowland night’s out, Friday Fury a campus wide social involving all colleges on campus and the Sugarhouse where you collect a different item from each college, Chavs vs. Emos fancy dress night was ace, and our end of term formal Spring Fling.

We additionally have the traditional Bowland Sunday Night Quiz in the bar, with a cash prize to win every week. It’s a great chance to chill out with your friends at the end of a long hard week of seminars and lectures (it’s a hard life being a student eh?!), have a laugh at the banter between teams, and see just how far people will go to win sweets!
